Cabo, Keeping Busy, and a Trip to the ER

We've been back for more than a month and a half, but I'm just getting a chance to finally share some of our photos from Cabo. Brock and I went at the beginning of January, and we had such a great time. I can't quite even put it into words. My parents kept the kids, and it was awesome to get away from everyday life for a few days. We stayed at the same place as last year, and you can bet we'd go back in a heartbeat. :)  We just totally relaxed on the beach during the day.  One night our hotel had a movie projected down by the pool WITH POPCORN!  Seriously, does it get any better?!

Here are some from our hotel...

This is where you sit in the morning and have your coffee...  :)

The beach there is long, wide, and empty!!  We walked every morning and probably passed 5 people in the 5 days we were there.

And there's one of the people we passed!  Both this year and last we were some of the only people on the beach.

The last night we stayed, our hotel was booked so we stayed closer to town.  It was much much busier but also closer to nightlife and restaurants.

(This is the place we stayed in the last night)

A little more activity on the beach, don't ya think?!

'The Office' on the beach.  Went there for dinner AND breakfast the next morning!

This is actually the sunrise, not the sunset!  They were 3 hours behind us, so we woke up so early every day!

I'm sad even posting pics from our trip - sad we have to wait another year to go back!!  :)  Such a great time.  Oh, and we found a new drink called a Changuita.  I don't know what's in it, but it was delish and we will definitely be requesting it on our next visit.  :)

So Mia started ballet and of course loves it.  There she is on the left hand side, sitting up all proper-like... (I had to take it through the glass so it's pretty hazy, but I think you can still spot her)

In her little ballet getup...

Drake has really taken up indoor baseball.  It was really the only thing he wanted to do for a few weeks straight.  Drivin' me nuts!!

I am so proud of Drake, he is pretty much potty trained!  We just do pull-ups or a diaper at naps/bedtime, and he still usually wakes up dry.  Occasionally he still asks for a diaper to do his thing, but for the most part the lure of 2 M&M's is enough to keep him pooping on the potty.  :)  Yay!  I feel like we have reached a huge milestone - never having to buy a box of diapers again!!  Mia said to Drake the other day after he pottied - "Drake, give me a big poopie hug!"  So funny.

So Monday Drake was totally fine, running around and playing all day.  We put him to bed like normal, and at 11pm he woke up screaming and coughing a croup-y cough.  He was wheezing so badly I was afraid he was going to turn blue because he couldn't breathe.  We opened the back door to get him some cold air, but it didn't help.  I honestly thought we might have to call an ambulance because he was struggling so much to breathe.  Luckily we live about 3 minutes from the ER, so we rushed him over there.  Fortunately it was only croup, and they gave him a steroid to calm down the inflammation in his airways.  I knew croup entailed the nasty cough, but I didn't know about the horrendous struggle to breathe that could accompany it.  So scary.  Thankfully he's fine, just working through the cold-like symptoms now.

A few more pics of the kids keeping busy!

Ahhh, my reason for being :)

So Mia's clothing is a battle I have chosen not to fight.  When we are going out in public, if her outfit is outrageous, I will ask her to change.  But I definitely let her 'get away' with more than I'd like, I'm just not willing to fight about it with her all the time.  Now she knows if we go somewhere, she will likely have to change.  Before she comes downstairs, she prequalifies it with, "Now Mom, I know if we go somewhere I'm going to have to change."  Today she also added, "Mom, this one is really crazy today."  Uh oh.  Here is what she came down in...

I mean, seriously?!  "Mom, don't I look beautiful?"  How do you respond to that?!  I am totally a t-shirt and jeans type of gal, so I can't offer her much advice in the style department.  However, I don't know where she gets her sense of gaudiness.  Oh well, it does give us something to laugh about, even if we are cringing in the moment.  :)

Man, sorry for the novel.  Thanks for stopping by!
