Crackers

This morning Mia wanted some crackers, so she went to the pantry, got out the box, climbed up on her chair, and asked me for a bowl. I stepped away for a minute to grab a bowl for her, and when I came back to the table, this is what I saw...

She had dumped the entire box out on her placemat. But the funniest part was that she looked at me when I got back and said, "Oh! I found one!" Yes, I guess so. :)

Laughin'

Here is a funny video from the other night when we were getting Mia ready for bed...

We're still working on getting her to sleep through the night in her new bed. It is a work in progress! She's been waking up in the middle of the night, and it takes 1-1/2 to 2 hours for us to get her back to sleep, and then she still wakes up at 6:00 or 6:30! We're all exhausted! But she's so funny because as soon as she comes out of her room, she shuts the door behind her. That's how we know she's up! The other night she woke up at 3:30am, shut her door, then I hear this little voice say "Good girl, Mia! All done nap!" I had to convince her that it was night time, not nap time. Last night, she woke up and told me she had to go potty. Yeah right, nice try! However, I ended up sitting her on the pot when she wouldn't lay back down, and she went! She (and I!) was very excited, but then of course I couldn't get her to go to sleep. Brock is much better at getting her back down in the middle of the night than I am, and last night when he was in there, she said to him, "Daddy, get a shirt on." That girl never stops making us laugh. :) Hopefully next time we post, we'll all be more rested!

Sleeping in her new bed!

The past 2 nights, Mia has slept in her new bed! Well, almost. The first night she actually ended up falling in between the mattress and headboard (that was actually extremely scary), and we ended up putting her in her crib for the rest of the night because she never fell back asleep in her bed. Here is a picture of her on her first night in her new room...

Yesterday, my mom and I devised a way to secure her mattress on three sides so she couldn't possibly get wedged between the mattress and anything else (I thought I had it figured out the first night, but apparently not!), so we tried her in her new bed again. I went in there to check on her about 3am, and here is how I found her, sound asleep...

Her little legs were just hanging off the side of the bed, but she was out like a light! Shortly thereafter, however, I heard a thud so I went to check on her. She was all curled up on the ground sleeping. But a few minutes later she came to get me. I tried to get her back to sleep, but after 2 hours finally decided to put her in her crib! It was so sad because we could hear her in her crib saying, "new bed, new bed!" But I think the excitement of her new bed makes it hard for her to fall asleep in there right now! It's all so new, she almost gets too excited to fall asleep. She has to arrange her babies and her books in her new environment, then keep rearranging them. Should they go under the sheets or on top? Sit on the pillow or next to it? And her poor little mind doesn't shut off, either. She kept talking about how Shrek turns into a man (in Shrek 2) and how Donkey turns into a horse. Then she wanted to sit on the potty, then she wanted some yogurt. She just gets too excited to fall asleep. Anyways, that's why she ended back up in her crib both nights! But we're getting there, gotta start somewhere!

One quick funny - my mom was changing Mia's dirty diaper the other day, and was making a big deal saying "Whew-wee! Stinky!" She must have gone on for a little too long, because all the sudden Mia said, "That's enough, Nana!" We sure got a kick out of that. :)

Accessorizing...

I caught these 2 pictures of Mia yesterday while she was accessorizing her wardrobe. She'll come out of nowhere wearing whatever she finds laying around...

I laughed so hard after the one with the glasses - Brock goes "She looks like such a dweeb." I don't know why I thought it was so funny he said that, maybe it's because our little girl is old enough to look like a dweeb! :)

Goodnight Moon

Goodnight Moon is one of Mia's favorite bedtime books, and usually she 'reads' it to us in her own little language. Lately, though, she has been actually saying the words (sometimes on the correct pages, sometimes not!). It is the cutest thing. Of course, when you try to get 'em on camera, they rarely cooperate! The other night, she went through the whole thing... "Goodnight moon, goodnight bears, goodnight chairs, goodnight kittens, goodnight mittens," etc. etc. I wish I had a hidden video that night, but here is what I was able to record so far. She starts out in her own little language, then starts saying parts of the story. She is more interested in seeing the camera, though, than in reading for me! Hopefully I'll catch her doing it again when I have my camera handy...

Here is a picture of her with little french braids that Nana did for her. I can't believe her hair is getting so long!

Mia has a cousin!!

We are so happy to announce that April and Chad have had their baby boy! Cole Matthew was born this morning weighing 5 lbs 6oz, and he is just perfect and precious! Everyone is doing great, and Brock and I got to hold our sweet new nephew today. Here are a few pictures of the new little guy...

Look at that sweet face!

And his tiny little body!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on him! He's so peaceful!

On another note, Mia has been her usual hilarious self. Today, she came out of her toyroom doing the best fake cry she could muster, she was almost making herself laugh. I asked her what happened, and she said, "Bella bit me." Now Bella is her favorite doll, so I'm not sure why she would make up such a story. But I said, "Bella bit you?" Mia: "Uh-huh. Band-aid!" And she had her little shoulder exposed where Bella had "bitten" her. What in the world?! That's the first time I've seen her make up a story like that, but I'm sure there's plenty more to come. We have to watch that girl!

Again, we're so happy for April and Chad - their baby boy is finally here, and he is perfect and healthy! :)
