Looking back...

Long time, no post! I will be back with more photos from Christmas, but for now here is a photo book I made of the kids from the past year (Spring and Summer '09). I thought it was fitting to post since New Years is just around the corner. :) Hope you all had a great Christmas - Happy New Year!

Mia is THREE!

Yesterday was Mia's 3rd birthday, I can't believe it. We had a little party for her at the house, and she had such a good time. She woke up this morning saying, "I want today to be my birthday again so we can have another party!" Here are some pics...

Daddy said he HAD to get her a bike - of course it is pink and covered in princesses...

Drake lovin' Mia's bike as much as she did...

Smiling while we were all singing Happy Birthday. When the song was over, she goes, "Thanks, guys!"

Auntie Katie got her a Tinkerbell scooter - she LOVES it...

I think this will become a permanent fixture on her head... (this was from today, these pics are out of order and I don't have the patience to rearrange them!)

Putting all her 'dress up' gear on she received as a gift... This is SO her...

Cabo!!

Brock and I just got back from Cabo, and It. Was. FABULOUS. I really think we could have been anywhere and had a great time, but the warm weather, sunny skies, crystal clear ocean, and never ending drinks and chips and guac certainly helped! Thank goodness we had our two little bundles to come home to, because leaving was definitely depressing. It was so nice to get away, just the two of us, and have no responsibility! We had such a great time together and are already secretly planning our next getaway. :) And my mom survived the kids, which I (and now she) will tell you is no small feat. We are so thankful we had the chance to get away for a bit - it was awesome! But we couldn't wait to kiss our kids' little cheeks when we got home. :)

Here are a few snapshots we took (I didn't bring my nice camera, just my point-and-shoot - one less thing to worry about!)

Can't wait until she's 16...

So this is pretty much Mia's attitude every time we ask her to do anything. Can't wait until she's 16.

Ok, seriously. I don't know what she was doing, but we were dying when we saw this one. Ha! So many things and pics to post, not enough time! Brock and I leave for vacation on Tuesday, so we are scrambling to get everything ready! If I don't get a chance to post before, I'll post when we get back. And please pray for my mom - she has my kids for 5 days by herself while we are gone! Thanks, Mom!! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! :)

Drake's 1 year pics, Mia's funnies

I took these photos of Drake over a month ago, I just haven't gotten a chance to go through them until now! Here are some of his 1 year photos...

He is still sweet as ever, but he is turning into a bit of a troublemaker! He and Mia play all the time in the toy room together, and lately I'll walk in and he is standing on top of the table in there! So now Mia doesn't hesitate to tell on him as soon as he starts climbing up. He knows he's not supposed to be up there and gives such a sneaky little grin when I catch him! He also likes to stand on top of the ottoman in the family room and walk around on it. Little stinker.

We have lever handles on the doors, and today he opened the door to the garage. Thankfully I was standing in the kitchen and saw him, but I had to let Brock know that he might be locked out of the house since I had to lock Drake in! I have definitely had to be on my toes lately with him.

Mia has been funny, funny, funny. Today I heard a little commotion (i.e. yelling and crying) in the toy room, and when I got in there Mia looked at me and said, "Drake bit me and pulled my hair. I wanted to hit him in the face, but I didn't. It was so frustrating!" She said it in such a sweet little voice, and she did have a wet spot on her arm where Drake bit her! I couldn't help but hug her for being such a good girl! However, I'm not naive enough to think she didn't do anything to provoke Drake. :)

So the other day, my mom and I were watching Oprah show with Ellen, where they were talking about their 'O' magazine cover shoot. Mia was in the room with us just playing around. I didn't for a second think she was paying attention to the show. Well the next day I got a Reader's Digest in the mail, and it had a chocolate lab wrapped up in Christmas lights, and Mia grabbed it and said, "Mom, this looks just like Ellen!" I almost fell over, because one of the Oprah/Ellen magazine covers had Ellen wrapped in Christmas lights! I was like "Mia, you are hilarious!" And here is what she said: "I mean, seriously. I could die for that." I know that's her way of saying, "I could die", like she knew she was so funny, she could die. Apparently I say that phrase all the time. :)

Then the other night, she goes, "Mom, I don't need medicine anymore. I don't have a cold." She actually hasn't had a cold in probably a couple of months, so I don't even know what made her think of that. Anyways, I said, "I know. It's good that we don't have to take medicine." She goes, "Totally." :)

Well I know she has said lots of other funny things lately, but this is long enough. Ha! Thanks for checking in on us! :)

The Cast is Off!

I've been really bad about not posting pictures lately, sorry. This post doesn't have any either, but Mia did get her cast off today! She isn't putting any pressure on her leg, which is funny because she was walking around with her cast the last couple of days! But the doctor said little ones really protect themselves until they have to use pressure. It could be days or weeks until she is walking normally. But everything is looking good! :) Thank goodness this ordeal is almost over!

Happy Halloween!

I just thought I'd post a few pics of the kids in their costumes. They had so much fun trick-or-treating! Mia was of course Tinkerbell (complete with blush, eyeshadow, and lipgloss), and Drake was a monkey...

Mia got her short cast on Tuesday. It is much easier to manage! Next Tuesday (about a week and a half from now) she will get it off. I'll have to get a photo of it - this time she wanted a green cast, and the guy wrapped it with glow-in-the-dark stripes, too. :)

One quick funny story - tonight we went to Qdoba for dinner, and Brock asked me what I wanted for dinner. Suddenly Mia chimes in, "I'll do a chai tea latte." Ha! We were cracking up. :) Happy Halloween!

Happy Birthday to my Hubby!

Well, I'm a day late on my blog, but yesterday was Brock's birthday! Katie and Tony watched our kids for us, and Brock and I got to go out to dinner and a movie. It was so nice to get out alone! We had such a good time. I just love hanging out with him. :)

Mia has been hilarious lately. I'm trying to remember all the funny things she's done lately. This week I was coming back from somewhere, and I was unloading everything from the car. I hear Drake crying and went to check out what was going on. Mia goes, "I took his shoes off, mom, but he was NOT cooperating!" His shoes weren't even undone, I think she just pulled them off his feet. I can't imagine why he wasn't cooperating - ha!

I'll have pictures soon, sorry I don't have any at the moment. How boring. :)

Just pics

Here are some recent pics. We took the kids to Stony Creek Farm for their fall festival. Mia got to ride a pony for the first time, even with her broken leg! The rest are just kind of random. :)

Drake keeps making us laugh. He loves eating with a fork and gets such a kick when he actually gets something on the end by himself. He's been doing lots of new things, I love watching him learn! Just in the past week, he started saying cracker, uh-oh (when he drops something), ball, and bath. When we turn on music, he starts jamming and then spinning in circles with the biggest grin on his face. The funniest part is that he 'leads' with his arm across his body when he's spinning around. He makes himself so dizzy that he can't even walk, it's hilarious! :)

Mia's still scooting around! Next Tuesday we go back for (hopefully!) a smaller cast, below the knee. Not too much else new, just trying to keep these little guys busy! They've been playing really sweet together, thank goodness!
