Exciting Stuff!

Well I had my 36 week checkup yesterday, and I am at 2 cm! The doctor was a little surprised I was already at 2, but it's totally normal. At least things are moving in the right direction. At this point in my pregnancy with Mia, I was at 1 cm. It doesn't really mean much, I guess, but I'm glad because maybe it means I will have another quick labor. We did talk about an elective induction sometime after 39 weeks (which would be on or after October 16th), but I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. We'll keep you posted! :)

Jack and Jill

I caught Mia on camera today singing Jack and Jill after we finished painting her toenails...

All the pounding in the background is from our loft conversion into a bedroom/bathroom. The process hasn't been too bad, I just have to vacuum every night to keep the dust to a minimum!

Mia is such a girly girl, it cracks me up. Today she told me "Mommy, my hair is getting long" as if she has this flowing mane or something. Hilarious. And it was the cutest thing - the other night Brock was in our bathroom brushing her teeth and hair, and all the sudden I heard the blow dryer going. I walk in, and he is trying to maneuver my blow dryer and brush through Mia's hair because she told him she needed it dried. I wish I had my camera! She loves to "dry" her hair in the morning after I'm done with the blow dryer, but now she requests it when her hair is actually wet, before she goes to bed. Such a little girl. :)

Here are just a few shots from the last couple of days. Wednesday morning, Mia woke up with a bad cold at 5 am. Brock got up with her, and by the time I showered and got downstairs, here is how I found the two of them - my two favorite people... :)

This past weekend, Mia got to see Granna and 'Cousin Cole,' and she just loved him! She kept wanting to hold him, it was the cutest thing. Once while she was holding him, she goes, "Oh! He tooted! He needs to sit on the potty!" It was hilarious. Check out how cute they are...

Here are some updated pictures of her room, although it is still not completely finished. But we're getting there!

Today Mia sang the entire ABC's by herself. Of course when I got out the camera, she got distracted and I had to help her along, but here is what I got so far. Hopefully I'll be able to get her singing the whole song soon! I didn't know she knew any of it until we were playing with these little letters she has, and all the sudden she sang the whole song! Here's part of it anyway...

I'm apologizing in advance for more potty talk again, but we had another small breakthrough in that department... Yesterday I was putting Mia down for a nap, and as usual she was not wanting to take one, trying everything not to fall asleep. Also as usual, I told her to lay still and close her eyes. She whispered back, "I gotta poopie." I told her she better not be lying to get out of bed, and she still said "I gotta poopie." So I took her out and sat her on the pot. She said "Mommy, leave!" so I told her to call me when she was done. About 3 minutes later she called me back in, and what do you know? She had to poopie! This is probably the 6th or 7th time she's pooped on the pot, but it's the first time she actually told me she had to go. Until now, we have just been catching her at the right time. So exciting for her to actually tell me first! When I told Brock, he said he's never been so excited about a turd (is that even how you spell that?!) in his life. :) Contrast that, however, with this morning. Mia woke up and said "Oh! Tinkle!" So I asked, "You need to sit on the potty, or did you already go?" She replied, "I already go." Well, we'll try again later. :)

Also exciting around here is the fact that the remodeling process of our loft has finally started! We have an area upstairs that we've never used for anything, so we decided to make it into a bedroom and bathroom. Hopefully it won't take more than a few weeks (at least that's what they tell me), so we'll be sure to put up some pictures when it's all done. It's a little tricky having a 21 month old with construction going on in your house (she is curious about everything going on up there), but hopefully it won't last that long!

Also, yesterday I had my 34 week checkup. The baby's been measuring right on track, but yesterday I laughed because my belly was measuring 35. The doctor was like "Great, you're measuring right at 35... oh, you're 34 weeks. Well, that's still normal..." It's just funny because all along I've had a feeling this baby is going to be huge. I'm hoping he stays within the 'normal' range from here on out...

Funny Story

First, what's a post without a picture?! This is a Mia taking a ride with our neighbor Mason the other day... they looked so cute in there together!

On to my funny story... Today we had some contractors over to fix something upstairs, and by the smell of them, they had clearly just finished a few cigarettes. Mia was eating in her chair, and when one of the guys was walking upstairs, he coughed a terrible smoker-cough. Mia said, "Mommy, he's choking!" followed by her best hacking-cough impression. Oh, I was so embarrassed! I kept telling her "shhhh!" and she just sat there smiling, proud of herself for noticing such a thing.

They were very friendly and even took their shoes off at the door, but somehow they tracked a little mud in the house - I think on their ladder. I though, oh, I'll just clean it all up when they're gone. Well a few minutes later, Mia comes running up to me saying "I don't yike it!" while scraping her tongue with her fingers. I looked, and she had bits of mud on her face and her tongue! I don't know if she thought it was chocolate or what, but something possessed her to pick up that bit of mud and give it a whirl! If you know Mia, you know that is very uncharacteristic of her - she can't stand the smallest speck of dirt on her hands or feet. Something about it must have looked mighty appetizing for her to stick it in her mouth. In her defense, if she's like her mama, she definitely thought it was a piece of chocolate. :)

Here are a few new pictures of "Miss Mia Pia" as she calls herself...

My mom and I are still working on her room, but we painted these stripes on her wall this week - Mia just loves them and couldn't wait until the paint was dry so she could touch them! We painted a little nightstand to go next to the chair (it's not in the picture), and we still have to look for fabric for a pillow, valance, and the chair (it needs to be reupholstered). But we're almost done putting it all together, so I'll definitely post pictures when it's complete! She also loves her new light (I don't know if you can see it well in the picture, it's a little chandelier with pink crystals to match a lamp we have in there), and couldn't wait to turn it on and off this morning!

She is loving her new bed and new room, and is finally sleeping through the night and taking her naps in there. She's also doing really well on the potty. It will be a process for sure, but I'm glad she's doing so well with it so far!

Also, after I watched the video, I don't think she was calling the baby "Buster," I think she was saying "button" when she saw my belly button! I can't believe I am going to post this picture, but here is a picture of my gigantic belly at 33 weeks. I can't believe it's going to have to stretch out even more!

Number Two!

So I put that as the title because not only is it my second post of the day, but Mia went Numero Dos on the potty today! Yippee! She was so excited, and so were we. She got 3 mini M&M's for that one! One less dirty diaper to change? I'll take it. We just had to share the good news. :)

Labor Day Weekend

This past weekend we went to my aunt's lake house in Warsaw. Mia had such a good time running around with all the kids! Here are some pictures and a video of her jumping on the neighbor's trampoline...

This trampoline was pretty dirty from the trees, but she had a blast!

(By the way, she did have bottoms to cover up her diaper, but they fell into the toilet before she went outside!) She's been doing much better in her new bed, not waking up in the middle of the night as much. She still thinks 5:30am is an appropriate time to get up in the morning, so we are still trying to convince her it's not! She's also been taking all her naps in her new bed, so I think we're finally going to start getting the nursery ready for the new baby!

Speaking of which... I've been having lots of contractions lately (the last few weeks), so many that they actually gave me a prescription to stop them when they start coming too quickly. Thankfully the medicine has worked every time I have had to take it. But the problem is that after I start having contractions like that, the muscles in my back start to spasm. I have been in physical therapy for my back which has helped a lot, and my mom has been coming over every day for about a month to help me out with Mia. I don't know what I'd do without her! We're hoping this baby goes to full term, but the doctor told me that once I hit 36 weeks (which is in just over 3 weeks), I don't need to take the medicine anymore to stop the contractions. It's a little crazy thinking he could possibly be here so soon! But Mia was 3 days overdue before I was induced, so I am planning on carrying this baby to term also. :) As much as I am ready to get him out so we can meet him (and so I can function normally again), I hope he stays in there as long as possible so he is born healthy.
