Happy Birthday to you...

Today is Brock's birthday, his 28th! Mia and I bought him cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning, and we made him cookies together (we're going to give those to him when he gets home from work!). Birthdays seem to get a little less exciting when you get older, but we still tried to make it special!

It was so funny, last night Mia said to Brock, "Nemo in the morning? And coffee, and milk, and waffles!" This kid loves coffee! I have a Starbucks mug I use from time to time, and every time she sees it, she says "Stahbucks!" We can't drink coffee without her hounding us for a sip (luckily we drink decaf), but it seems so funny to me that she likes it so much. We just got a kick out of her asking for coffee, milk, and waffles last night, already planning for the morning.

Things have been going better than I expected with a 22 month old and a newborn. Mia has definitely been pushing her limits, but that is to be expected. Drake is sleeping a lot right now which helps with the transition of having two. Mia still wants to be right in on the action, whether we are feeding him, changing him, or holding him.

Not too much else new - just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my wonderful hubby! :)

One Week Update!

Drake's been with us for a week now, and I'm happy to say things are going well! However, tomorrow Brock goes back to work, so that all may change for me! Mia just loves her new brother and is constantly wanting to hold him, touch him, and kiss him. We are working on being gentle. :) I took Drake to his pediatrician today for a checkup, and he already weighs 7 lbs 6 oz! She was impressed since he was born at 6 lbs 12 oz and came home at 6 lbs 7 oz five days ago. He's gained almost a pound in 5 days! Let's just say I am not lacking in the milk supply department - I'm just thankful the little guy hasn't drowned yet. :) Here are a few more pictures...

Mia was sharing all her toys with him...

Pictures!

Here are some pictures of our new little man! So far, he has been extremely laid back - Praise the Lord! Mia is rebelling a little bit, but that is to be expected. But Drake is so sweet - we just can't get enough of him! He is such a good eater - he came out with his mouth open! I think he will fatten up in no time flat. Enjoy the pics! :)

The night I went into labor - holy belly!

He's Here!!!

In the wee hours this morning, I woke Brock up and told him it was time to get to the hospital! I had been having pretty regular contractions for 3 hours, so I called my doctor and she told me to head in. I am so happy to say that I had another easy labor (I will also add an Amen for epidurals!). My water broke on its own, and after 1 push, Drake Vincent Vaughters was born! He was 6 lbs, 12 oz and 20 inches long. He nursed right away and seems much more laid back than my Miss Mia, although time will tell. I probably won't be able to upload pictures until I get home on Wednesday, but I wanted to post a quick update. He looks like Mia in the eyes, but his little mouth and nose are different than hers. He has dark, fuzzy hair and is so, so sweet! I can't wait for Mia to see him. We thank God for a healthy little baby boy and a smooth delivery. I was supposed to be induced on Thursday, but I am sure glad he came a little early!

So we compromised on the name, because Brock has been calling him Vinnie ever since we found out we were having a boy (as many of you know!). But Vinnie Vaughters didn't fly in my book, so we used it for his middle name so that can still be Brock's nickname for him - after all, that's how he has been referring to him this entire time! I can't wait to post pictures of him for you all to see... I'll do it as soon as I get a chance! :) Thanks for checking in on us!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

We caught Mia on video singing Itsy Bitsy Spider after her bath tonight, crazy wet hair and all!

We are enjoying one last weekend with just the three of us! :)

Update!

Well I had another doctor's appointment today, and she said I am 4 cm dilated! I'm sure glad we scheduled an induction because I don't think I would make it all the way to my due date anyway. I was actually supposed to go home this weekend for my cousin's shower, but the doctor recommended I don't make a 2-1/2 hour trip. I have been having lots of pretty strong contractions (nothing regular though), and she said all it could take is one good contraction to break my water and send me into labor. So I am going to play it safe and not make the trip this weekend (sorry, Sarah! I wish I could be there!). Anyways, Brock and I are getting so excited. Personally I don't think I'll go into labor before my induction on the 16th, but I guess the possibility exists!

Mia has been her usual funny self lately. Tonight after dinner, we were all sitting in the living room, and Mia sat in her little chair. She looked at Brock and I and said in her little voice, "Whatcha thinkin' about, guys?" It was so cute. And this morning, Brock came up to her while she was watching her cartoons, and she said, "Hi Daddy! I didn't see you there!" I just love how she communicates with us.
Here are some pictures of our little peanut pie brushing her teeth...

We'll keep you posted if anything changes! :)

"My eyebrows are crazy!"

I just had to share a quick funny story. Yesterday, Mia picked up a handheld mirror and a makeup brush, and started brushing over her eyes. All the sudden as she's looking in the mirror, I hear her little voice say, "My eyebrows are crazy!" I just started cracking up, thinking where in the world she would have come up with that. Then I remembered earlier in the day, I was plucking my eyebrows and had said something to that effect. We sure do have to watch what we say around here! :)

We have a date!

We had another doctor's appointment today, and we have set an induction for October 16th! I'll be 39 weeks - that's 2 weeks from today! It's still possible that I'll go into labor before then, but if I don't, the 16th will be the day! I feel like we're as ready as we're going to be, and we are getting so excited. :) Hopefully our spare room remodel will be done by then - it's going to be close, but I think it will be finished.

Here's a little video of Mia singing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' really, really fast!
