A few pictures from Christmas morning. Such a fun, fun age for the excitement of Christmas morning...
These are some pictures of a gingerbread house and girl that Mia made. The only thing I helped her do was to glue the actual house together. She did all the decorating. :)
You know Mia, she is hilarious. We were working on this mosaic together, it's kind of a color-by-number concept except you use these magnetic foam blocks. Every time I would put one on, she would double check my work to make sure I was putting the right color on.
Sometimes I ask her if her brain hurts! This girl's mind never rests. She's constantly trying to figure things out. Today we were working a puzzle, and she was like, "Oh mom, I know how they make puzzles. They have to paint a picture and put it on a board and cut it into all these pieces."
Earlier in the week I had cut up an apple for her. After I gave it to her, I said, "What are you doing?" She said, "Oh, I'm just trying to put the apple back together. I like to do that sometimes."
Brock's been working with her for probably the last year on doing simple math on his fingers before she goes to bed. They call it "Two Plus Two." Like, "Hey Daddy? Can we do a little Two Plus Two?" Anyways, she loves to play this. She knows most of them by heart (without having to count on fingers). Anyways, today she wanted me to quiz her on adding multiple numbers together... like 2+5+3+4. Every time, she can get to the right answer.
So then we started showing her how to add numbers together like 23+54 (like lining up the numbers on top of each other to add each column - does that have a name?!?!). Anyways, she totally gets it. When we were working on this today, she started creating her own math problems! Lol! So now we're teaching her about carrying over the 1. I'm amazed all the time at that little brain in her head. I'll be like, "Okay, this is a hard one!" And she says, "Oh, goody goody goody!" Hilarious. It's becoming more challenging to keep that little mind of hers occupied. She acts so old that I have to remind myself that only 2 months ago she turned 5. I already depend on her to remember things like where we parked and remind me of things I don't want to forget! I mean, having kids has sucked any memory I ever had out of my brain, so I figure it's only fair that I get to leverage hers!! :)
A couple weeks ago, Disney On Ice was in town, and my mom and dad took us to see it! The kids just LOVED it.
Something else the kids enjoyed... obviously the Super Bowl was here this year, and since the weather has been awesome out, we decided to head down to Super Bowl Village. The kids loved it even though all we really did was walk around the Village and have dinner. Hallelujah for amazing weather in February! It has been like spring outside. We had a great time.
Something else funny that's been happening... Mia received her first love note from a boy in class. I pick her up from school a couple weeks ago, and she pulls out an envelope from her backpack. I figure it's another birthday invitation from one of the kids in class. Oh, no. This is what's inside...
To make matters worse, it's from one of the boys she only refers to as "The Troublemaker."
She didn't make a big deal out of it, so we didn't either. But at dinner, I asked her if she knew why his note said, "I love you." She said, "Because he wants to marry me." Brock said, "Didn't you tell him you are going to marry Drake?" She said, "Well I'm probably going to have The Double Husbands." Oh. My. Gosh. I thought we were going to fall out of our chairs.
The next time she went to school, he gave her a crystal bead. His mom introduced herself to me at their Valentine's Day party, and was like, "I don't know if you know, but he is smitten with Mia." We found out that he was rubbing her back one day in class. Honestly, I thought we had a little more time before stuff like this started to happen. :(

A quick funny about Drake - we were in the store passing the lingerie department, and he says, "Oh. MyGosh. Mommy. They sell boobies here." He says this as he squeezes a C-cup on a racy, lacy, push-up bra. Oh the innocence. If only buying new boobies were that easy!

Mia made this heart for me for Valentine's Day :) We had to go to the store and get a poster board, but she wouldn't tell me what she was doing with it. She worked on it during quiet time...
Good thing Drake is laid back - Mia pinned her hair bow on his collar like a bowtie, and he kept it there all afternoon...
Another of her creative endeavors... a princess hat, complete with toilet paper! (even funnier is I think that was Brock's idea!)
We signed Mia up for Kindergarten last week! So crazy. She is super excited. I'm excited I can see the school out my kitchen windows. :)
What freaked me out even more was signing Drake up for preschool. I feel like he's such a baby, I can't send him off to school!!!! Oh my little guy. He can't wait. Lately he's cried a few times when we've dropped Mia off because he wants to stay at school. It's weird to think that in the fall, I'll truly have a few hours during the week all alone. They've been saying to me, "Mommy, what are you going to do without your kids?!" Oh kids, don't you worry about that. ;)
