Playing together

Mia loves to lay in Drake's bed with him when he wakes up from his morning nap...

Mom, can you please take her outta here?!

Chief Futz

So yesterday we were in the car on the way home from my Mom and Dad's, and Drake was crying as usual (as laid back as he is, he DOES NOT like his car seat!). I hear Mia's little voice in the backseat, "Calm down, Chief! Calm down, Chief Futz!" I'm thinking, Chief Futz? What is that? Then all the sudden it dawned on me, she was calling him Chief Nuts! Oh my gosh. If you know Brock at all, you can totally hear him calling our son that. I about died. So later I'm telling Brock about it, and we were laughing so hard. Then I told him about her talking about Drake, "I'm gonna call him Vinnie with Daddy." I was like, "You are?!" She said "No, I'm gonna call him Drake with Mommy." Brock goes, "And apparently she's gonna call him Chief Nuts when she's by herself!" :)

Mia's 2 year, Drake's 3 month pictures

This past Saturday, we had pictures taken of the kids. I emailed a link out to many of you who read our blog, but in case you haven't seen them, you can see them at http://jamiesangarblog.com/index.cfm?m=1&y=2009. If you get a chance, check out the slideshow - there are some really cute ones in there! Jamie (the photographer) was so good with the kids - I'd definitely recommend her if you live in the area!

Funny Times

I know I have mentioned before Mia's obsession with lining things up, and I got a couple of pictures this weekend of her 'work'. Sometimes she tells you she wants your help, but she is quick to tell you that you are doing it wrong. She basically wants you to sit by her while she lines everything up. She is always very proud of her handiwork when it is done...

These are her 'pets' (all the Littlest Pet Shop animals we got her for her birthday), and they keep her busy for hours a day! She lines them up laying down, standing, in a circle, you name it. And they all have to be facing the same direction. And don't try to mess with them when they are lined up - she'll yell at you!!

For some reason, the animals with wings aren't allowed to play with the rest of her pets. They have been ostracized ever since she got them. We always try to sneak them in, but without saying a word, she quietly throws them off to the side. I always try to ask her why they can't play with her other pets, and she usually ignores me! The other day, however, she told me they are in time out. They must have gotten in really big trouble, because they are never allowed out! Here are her pets with wings. Poor guys have to stay in the case while all the rest get played with...

Poor Drake. Having to share his seat with Mia's doll...

Yes, she has picked up on the whole concept of breastfeeding...

Mia is such a crack up. Sometimes I have tears in my eyes because I laugh so hard at the crazy things she does. But she is constantly testing us. Recently she has started yelling at us, which is really not funny but it is. It's hard not to laugh at this little voice telling us what to do ("Mommy, I want Mini Wheats! I told you! Listen to me!"), but we are really trying to stop that kind of behavior because it is unacceptable. Those are the times I have tears in my eyes because I don't know if I'm going to cry or laugh. She has always been a challenge, and it doesn't look like she is going to stop anytime soon. I am banking on Drake being a much easier child to raise. Look at his face... how can he not be??!! :)

Happy 3 Months!

I can't believe Drake is 3 months old today! It's funny, though, because at the same time it feels like he has been here much longer. He's such a happy, smiley, kissable baby! You can't help but smile when you see him. He does these little laughs that are so darn cute. In the words of Miss Mia last night, "Drake, you're looking good, man!" :)

I forgot I hadn't posted a picture of his room after I finished it. Here is a pic...

That's all for now - we'll post again soon...

We're about there!

Since Brock was off for a few days around New Years, we decided to really concentrate on potty training. Mia is doing great! The first few days she had maybe 2 minor accidents a day, but the past couple of days she hasn't had one accident! She has even been waking up from her naps dry. It is awesome only having to change diapers for one baby instead of 2! That was the worst part, having 2 kids in diapers. You don't realize how fast that gets old until you have 2 in diapers. Ugh! Poor Drake, a few weeks ago I was changing him and noticed he was wearing Mia's diaper. It's funny, though, because between having to take her to the bathroom every 30 minutes and nursing Drake every few hours, it's nearly impossible to leave the house! I'm thankful it's winter when we're going through all this, because we're mostly inside at home anyways.

Drake is doing great. He is such a happy, smiley baby. Today I was trying to feed him, and he wouldn't eat because he was smiling so much at me! All his poor little baby acne has vanished. His skin is restored to it's soft, smooth, marshmallow-ness! Here are some new pictures...

Mia's obsession with lining things up. Here she is sleeping with her babies, all lined up and facing downward -

This jersey is from my cousin Marissa - her husband went to Drake University, so this is authentic Drake-wear!
